Step-by-Step: From Terminal to Island

Step 1 — Get to Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. The terminal is at the foot of Bay Street on Queens Quay. The 509 and 510 streetcars stop nearby. Parking fills fast on summer weekends, so transit or cycling is best.
Step 2 — Arrive Early. Peak-season queues can exceed an hour. Aim to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before your preferred sailing. Weekday mornings are usually quieter.
Step 3 — Choose Your Dock. Centre Island suits families, Ward's Island offers a quieter boardwalk feel, and Hanlan's Point is ideal for beaches. Each crossing takes about 13 to 15 minutes.
Step 4 — Enjoy the Ride. Head to the upper deck for stunning skyline views.
Step 5 — Explore. The islands are car-free. Paths connect 15 islands across 570 acres of parkland, beaches, and gardens. Pack water and snacks — services are limited outside summer.

Seasonal Tips

Spring: Schedules ramp up in late April. Green, uncrowded islands — perfect for a peaceful walk. Bring layers for cool mornings on the water.
Summer: Peak season brings longer wait times. Go early or pick a weekday. Beaches and Centreville are at their liveliest.
Autumn: Crowds thin and fall colours are gorgeous. Schedules reduce in October — check sailing times before heading out.
